Some accomplished it within the multi-level marketing industry, others by becoming entrepreneurs while others might have prepared themselves by continuing the education and the skills they learned to qualify for higher paying positions.
I recently met a young man on a flight who had grown up outside of Chicago. He studied computer science and as hard as he tried, he couldn’t break through the $75,000 a year income range near his home. He eventually was recruited by Intel Corporation on a contract basis, for their Sacramento based facility and he was able to increase his salary by more than $25,000 a year and they paid all of his expenses and flew him home every three weeks.
He told me when he was able to add Intel to his resume it would be worth $0-25,000 a year in Illinois. It was a major sacrifice for him to be away from his wife and two sons, but they had made the choice to tough it out for the six month contract for the long term gain.
If they were to save the additional income, their lives will be drastically improved by the time they are in their 50s and when they decide to retire. They’ll even be able to pay for their children’s education at any Ivy League college based on the six month contract. It was not only an intelligent choice, but commendable.
